Halo is the ring of light often associated with angels and other divine beings.
I personally believe that human consciousness is created by the beams of light moving in circular motions. The beams of light would eventually form a torus, which looks like a halo.
I believe so because human consciousness always manage to retain the image of self. I do not believe that consciousness can be explained solely with brain cells. If this were true, a single change in a synapse would bring enormous change to the state of consciousness. This would effectively make self awareness impossible.
Viewing consciousness as the beams of light moving in circles allows us to understand why even after learning and experiencing new stuff, we can return to our original selves.
Scientific Feasibility of the Halo Model of Consciousness
Next, let’s discuss the scientific feasibility of a halo. We know that a beam of light always travels in a straight line. How could a beam of light move in a circle?
There are three possibilities.
First, an object with enormous mass may make a beam of light travel in a circle. This is actually analogous to how black holes trap light. However, it seems improbable that we all have black holes in our heads because if so, the mass of our heads would be extremely large.
Secondly, a beam of light with enormous amount of energy could manage to warp spacetime in a manner that allows it to move in a circle. Unfortunately, such a beam of light should have enormous amount of energy and an electromagnetic wave with such a large amount of energy would be sufficient to burn every single cell in the human body. So it is improbable that our consciousness is a beam of light with enormous amount of energy.
Lastly, a group of proteins could exchange electrons in a coordinated manner. Since movement of charged particles leads to the creation of an electromagnetic wave, the coordinated actions of the proteins could succeed in making a halo of light. I believe that this is the most probable scenario.
