ToggleDoes Low Calorie Intake Lead To Successful Weight Loss?
No. This is the most critical fact that you must know and accept to lose weight. Yes, it is true that low calorie intake can lead to temporary weight loss. However, your weight will eventually bounce back.
Then What’s Important For Weight Loss?
In order to successfully lose weight and maintain it, you must have at least some understanding of insulin resistance.
When we eat something, nutrients within the food get absorbed into our bloodstreams. In order for the nutrients floating in the bloodstream to enter the cells and get converted to energy, a hormone called insulin is needed. Without insulin, our cells cannot generate energy regardless of whether we ate something or not.
This is why obese people, despite having large store of fat in their bodies, often feel hungry and eat a large amount of food. Most of what they eat cannot be converted to energy because while insulin must work properly for the carrying out of the process, obese people often have high insulin resistance and this causes their insulin to malfunction.
Therefore, in order to lose weight, it is of utmost importance to lower the level of insulin resistance. In order to achieve this feat, one must increase muscle mass and eat less carbohydrates.
Muscles are like power plants. They actively use energy existent in the form of ATP to undergo contraction, which is the process integral for any type of movement. There are about 650 skeletal muscles in our bodies, and this means that our bodies are equipped with 650 power plants. Unfortunately, many people nowadays, because of their sedentary lifestyles, do not have all 650 muscles intact. This causes higher level of insulin resistance and eventually makes it much easier for the body to get fatter.
If you truly want to lose weight, then you must try to strengthen as many skeletal muscles as possible. Since there are 650 in total, it would be a good goal to try to get at least 500 of them healthy. If you don’t have high quality skeletal muscles, your insulin resistance will surge and this will eventually lead to weight gain.
In essence, low calorie intake cannot be the ideal solution for weight loss. In order to achieve the goal, you must recognize the importance of insulin resistance and try to lower it through regular exercise.
